exl practice development was founded in 2000, and incorporated (as EXLPD Ltd) in 2024, by Trevor Hellawell, a well-known and experienced trainer and consultant. Specialists in the 3 'Comps' - competence, compliance and complaints - exl practice developoment offer a range of consultancy services in the legal services and legal education & other professional sectors.

Competence includes advice and training in relation to the setting of competence standards for staff, and devising matrices and methodologies to maintain competence in technical areas, financial acumen, leadership, management, marketing and professional language skills.

Compliance includes advice and training on Money Laundering and associated procedures, cybercrime, data protection, equality and diversity, anti-bribery and regulatory issues to do with the SRA Codes of Conduct and Accounts Rules as well as Lexcel and CQS compliance.

Complaints includes advice and training on customer services issues and maximising effectiveness in customer relations as well as handling complaints and claims.

We also offer a unique package of e-PCPs for use by compliance teams in the endless pursuit of compliance with AML, Terrorist Finance and Proliferation Financing.
